OMAN POST AND INDIA POST RELEASE A JOINT STAMP TO CELEBRATE CULTURAL FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN OMAN AND INDIA

MUSCAT, 15 December 2023 : Oman Post, part of Asyad Group, and India Post launched a Joint Stamp issue that commemorates the cultural ties and longstanding friendship between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India. The joint stamp launch coincided with the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Republic of India. Members of the executive management from both Oman Post and India Post attended the event. The stamp highlights the strong economic and deep cultural connections between Oman and India.

The stamp's theme celebrates the folk dances of Oman and India, encapsulating the rich, shared cultural heritage. It features iconic dance forms from both countries, symbolizing the vibrancy, tradition, and artistic expression that underscore Oman-India relations. The joint stamp depicts “Al Razha”, a traditional form characterized by its graceful movements, intricate footwork and the use of swords. On the other stamp face, the Indian cultural dance depicted is “Dandiya Rass”, a popular folk dance from Gujarat, India, known for its energetic and rhythmic movements performed by both men and women in their native costumes using sticks. This illustrative portrayal is not only a nod to the historical links, but also honors the ongoing cultural exchange and mutual admiration between the two nations.

The Oman-India commemorative joint stamp with a folk dancing scene will be available at the Oman Post Stamps and Collectibles shop at the Opera Galleria, offering both the general public and stamp collectors an opportunity to own a piece of this cultural festivity.

Oman Post continues its efforts of honoring significant bilateral relationships and national events with its unique range of stamps and collectibles, showcasing the Sultanate's rich culture and its active role in the international community.
